We Are Down to the Wire!

Anambra State stands at a crossroads. In just a few days, citizens will wield their greatest power… the right to choose who will lead our state for the next four years. Sixteen political parties may be on the ballot, but let’s be honest — only three are truly in contention for this critical seat at this critical time.

For months, we have heard the same tired promises. Some candidates wave wads of cash, pledging ₦5 million per local government that votes their way, an insult to our intelligence and dignity. Others take to the media to boast about “hospitals” that exist only in propaganda videos. We have watched the sitting governor travel on roads riddles with potholes to campaign for re-election, a metaphor for how far our infrastructure and leadership have sunk.

Just weeks ago, a gubernatorial candidate was accused, on camera, of owing over ₦1 billion. His only response? A whispered request for a “private discussion.” If a man cannot pay his debts, how will he manage a state’s treasury?

We have seen ribbon-cuttings for roads barely a kilometer long, a tragic display of mediocrity. Politicians who vow to “end vote buying” now lurk near polling stations with envelopes of cash. Some candidates are even sabotaging their own party’s campaigns, hoping for crumbs of favor from the ruling party in Abuja. Others campaign under one banner but plan to decamp to the APC once elected.

A State in Decline

In the last three years, Anambra has become unrecognizable. The grand vision of turning our state into “the Dubai of Africa” has evaporated. Promised “international markets” are still empty lots. Once-proud towns have turned into ghost communities under the grip of insecurity, kidnapping, cultism, and vigilante brutality.

As the festive season approaches, expect what has become a sad ritual: military, police, and vigilante checkpoint every few kilometers, not for safety, but to extort travelers. Meanwhile, our hospitals are collapsing, food prices are skyrocketing, and thousands of families go to bed hungry every night.

From Greatness to Shame

It was not always this way. Under Peter Obi’s leadership, Anambra earned national respect for fiscal discipline and development. But today, we have fallen into decay.

Would you believe that during the civil war, Ihiala had running water? I was a witness! But this has become something many towns lack today. That Nigeria once had uninterrupted electricity and functioning rail service, where high school students ride for free? We have regressed while others moved forward.

Our last governor, now facing indictments of corruption, lives abroad. The same cycle of greed threatens to repeat itself. Once the pride of the Southeast, Anambra has become a punchline. A state mocked for chaos, impunity, and silence. Even when our people are attacked or displaced in other states, no one in government speaks for us.

A Chance to Reclaim Our Future

But hope is not lost. History shows that when a people reach rock bottom, a savior often rises from the ashes. Look at Abia State, written off for decades, now experiencing a renaissance through the Labour party visionary leadership and citizen accountability.

Anambra can do the same. On November 8, 2025, we have a once-in-a-generation chance to rewrite our story. To choose a leader who listens, who serves, and who believes government exists for the people, not for personal enrichment.

That leader is Dr. George Moghalu, with Ms. Veronica Okaro by his side and representing the Labour Party, a movement born of integrity and rooted in service. Guided by the ideals of our own native son, Peter Obi, the Labour Party stands for transparency, development, and respect for the common man.

The Moment Is Now

On November 8, 2025, join hands with millions of Anambra sons and daughters. Vote for the Labour Party. Vote for Dr. George Moghalu and Ms. Veronica Okaro.

This is not just another election. It is our last chance to reclaim the dignity, prosperity, and pride of Anambra State. Let history record that when our moment came, we chose courage over cash, vision over vanity, and integrity over intimidation.

Anambra, this is our time. Let’s reset our future — together.
